Want to be on BASSA?

Hi BAS Students! 

A new semester means that we have some new positions open on BASSA! We are a fun and warm community of students and encourage anyone who is interested to apply! 

Applications are due Tuesday, September 22nd by midnight.  

To apply, please email us a brief description (150-200 words) about yourself and why you would be a good fit for the position you’re applying for.

Please format your subject line as follows – 

The position you’re applying for, your name (ex. 2nd-year rep, Susan Jones)

*The board will be voting on Wednesday, September 23rd. You can expect an email with voting results by the evening of Thursday, September 24th 🙂  

1st-year rep – responsible for acting as a liaison between the 1st-years and BASSA as a whole. They are also responsible for promoting BASSA events through class announcements and the maintenance of any social media channels associated with their respective year. All year representatives attend BASSA events and our bi-weekly BASSA board meetings (Which will be held Wednesday evenings)! These positions may be held concurrently with a College Government Representative Position. Year representatives must be in the year that they are representing. The time commitment for each of these positions is approximately 2-4 hours per week.

2nd-year rep – responsible for acting as a liaison between the 2nd-years and BASSA as a whole. They are also responsible for promoting BASSA events through class announcements and the maintenance of any social media channels associated with their respective year. All year representatives attend BASSA events and our bi-weekly BASSA board meetings (Which will be held Wednesday evenings)! These positions may be held concurrently with a College Government Representative Position. Year representatives must be in the year that they are representing. The time commitment for each of these positions is approximately 2-4 hours per week.

College of Social and Applied Human Sciences (CSAH-SA) rep –  responsible for acting as the liaison between their respective college government and the board. College Government Representatives are required to attend the meetings of their respective college government (either weekly or bi-weekly), bi-weekly BASSA meetings, and all BASSA events. These positions may be held concurrently with another College Government or Year Representative position. The time commitment for each of these positions is approximately 3-5 hours per week. Please make sure you can make the college meeting before applying for this position! CSAH-SA meetings will take place bi-weekly on Wednesday’s from 2-3pm.

 College of Biological Sciences (CBSSC) rep – responsible for acting as a liaison between the year they are representing and BASSA as a whole. They are also responsible for promoting BASSA events through class announcements and the maintenance of any social media channels associated with their respective year. These positions may be held concurrently with a College Government Representative Position. Year representatives must be in the year that they are representing. The time commitment for each of these positions is approximately 2-4 hours per week. CBSSC meeting times have not yet been announced.

Hi There!

For those who are new to the BAS program we would like to welcome you and give you some insight into who we are!

We are the the Bachelor of Arts and Science Student Association which is the student government representing Bachelor of Arts and Sciences students at the University of Guelph!

Through organizing academic and social events, we facilitate learning and foster camaraderie amongst students and the larger University of Guelph community.
